  • (Abstract) The Eifel region in western Germany is an intracontinental volcanic system featuring widespread Quaternary volcanism, mostly monogenetic. Both primitive cinder-cone eruptions as well as evolved phonolitic Maar-style eruptions have occurred, with the latter as recently as 11k years ago. The Eifel is one of the few places globally with identified transcrustal feeder channels beneath such phonolitic centres. The GFZ Central European Volcanic Province Observatory (CVO) maintains this permanent broadband seismic network in collaboration with the Landesamt für Bergbau, Geologie und Rohstoffe Rheinland-Pfalz (LGB). The network’s primary function is to monitor and observe the ongoing, subtle volcanic and magmatic processes beneath the Eifel region. Waveform data from this network is available from the GEOFON data centre (network code 2D) and is subject to a two-week rolling embargo.
