Recent Service Disruptions and Ongoing Mitigation

Dear GEOFON users,
We would like to report that over the past 12 hours we have experienced timeouts and denied connections affecting most of our services.
The cause has been a flood of TCP SYN requests to our main server — in other words, a cyberattack. As a result, the GFZ IT Department and the DFN have implemented several mitigation measures and restrictions to protect our systems.
We are actively working to return all services to normal operation.
